British heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua has survived a serious car accident in Nigeria that tragically claimed the lives of two close members of his team. The crash happened on a major highway near Lagos when the vehicle Joshua was in collided with a stationary truck. Preliminary reports suggest the car may have been traveling at high speed and attempting an overtaking maneuver at the time of the collision.

Joshua, a two‑time former world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, was taken to a hospital in Lagos with minor injuries. He was kept under observation for treatment and monitoring but was later discharged and is now recovering at home.

The two men who died in the crash were identified as Sina Ghami, Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, his trainer and close friend. Their deaths have generated an outpouring of condolences from across the boxing community and beyond.

Local authorities and emergency services responded quickly to the scene, and an investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. Early statements from road safety officials pointed to excessive speed and an improper overtaking attempt as possible factors.

Joshua and his mother later visited a funeral home in Lagos to pay their respects as the bodies of the deceased were prepared for repatriation. The accident has also renewed focus on road safety issues in Nigeria, where traffic incidents remain a major concern.

The accident occurred shortly after Joshua’s recent knockout victory over fellow boxer Jake Paul, a fight he took as part of his campaign to return to world‑title contention. Questions remain about how this tragedy will affect his future boxing plans.
